Beyond Freedom, July 2007

It has been said that “to experience anything other than abundance in our life necessitates our actual resistance to our greater good.” When we hang on to the past, we literally, by our own design, decide to resist our greater good.

During the month of July, we focus on the empowering theme of freedom, the igniter of an enhanced human experience. Forgiveness means to give away, to release our compulsive attachment to what happened in the past. It extinguishes fear, resentment and doubt. It detoxifies our conditioned mind of poisons that prevent us from living a healthy life in the now. But what it really does, more than anything else, is give birth to our freedom to be what we were meant to be, pioneers in the ever blossoming glory of creation. We can’t do that if we hold within our consciousness the regurgitation of the things of the past. To birth our freedom, to be all that we can possibly be, to experience the new, to explore the wonders of creation, to be excited about the present moment necessitates that we “unburden” our minds from the events of the past and make room for the new.

Our minds are like parachutes, they only work for our greater good when they are open. So this month, let’s take the opportunity to focus on what we would like to experience in the moment, and release the past, making room for that which will bring joy into our experience, the unlimited abundance that is ours just waiting for our decision to receive. And So It Was.

Birthing Our Freedom

March 2007

It has been said that “to experience anything other than abundance in our life necessitates our actual resistance to our greater good.” When we hang on to the past, we literally, by our own design, decide to resist our greater good.

During the month of March, we focus on the empowering theme of forgiveness, the igniter of an enhanced human experience. Forgiveness means to give away, to release our compulsive attachment to what happened in the past. It extinguishes fear, resentment and doubt. CREATING A VISION FOR THE NEW YEAR

January 2007

The coming of the New Year gives each of us the opportunity to decide what we wish to experience in the months ahead and to release old concepts that not longer serve us. We are all visionaries whether we believe this or not. We are always creating mental images through our thought processes and, as we do this, we bring forth into our experience that which we create mentally.

One of our major difficulties as human beings is the tendency to focus on what we don’t want. For example, we may desire to change things and experience more money; however, our thoughts remain on the current condition, which is what we wish to change. As a result we focus our attention, not on the tremendous abundance available in the Universe and which we are ready to receive, but on the unsatisfactory condition of not enough money.

Because where we focus our attention manifests in our experience, our limited condition of lack of enough money persists. So, this year, let’s take the opportunity to decide what we wish to experience and focus on this exclusively without the distraction of what we don’t want. Just follow the words of Jesus, the Christ – If you desire something, KNOW, that you have it and it is yours.

And so it is.

Gratitude: Releasing Negative Labels
November 2006

During the month of November we focus on the empowering themes of gratitude and thanksgiving.

The emotion of gratitude has tremendous effect on our physical and spiritual well being.

Deepak Chopra tells us that our body chemistry responds to out thought processes. If we are fearful, anxious, angry and negative, our bodies are affected by this. It is like feeding our bodies doses of poison that will eventually destroy our health. Negative thinking and unforgiveness” will bring into our experience high blood pressure, cancer, ulcers and a multitude of other ailments.

Gratitude, on the other hand allows us to release the negative labels we often place on the happenings in our life by accepting the fact that no circumstance or event can hurt us.  How we process, in our minds, the event can cause us harm.

So, through the emotion of gratitude, we can accept all circumstances and events as being “gifts” that lead us on the path to the Divine.  We view these happening, not as, “why is this happening to me” and in its place we say, “Why is this happening for me.”   We focus on “what benefits me as I work through this ordeal” and I come to the  realization that all circumstances and events lead us closer to the divine.

We are grateful for this gift of human life, and all the circumstances and events that come with it.

And So It Is.

Being the Architect of Our Life
October 2006

The fall season brings to mind one of our great blessings. All of us have the ability to discard from our consciousness any and all circumstances, events and energy that may be holding us back from experiencing our greater good.

We merely need to let old ideas, beliefs and concepts that do not serve us well, fall away, and in so doing, open our minds to the tremendous life force that is eager to express itself in our lives in the form of love, peace and abundance.

October is the month of Self Imaging. What we mean by this is that we accept the responsibility of being the architect of our life’s journey. The quality of our life, how we experience each day and how successful we wish to be in all areas of our lives is up to us.

We activate this creative life force through our thought processes and through our feelings and desires.

This month we are reminded that where we focus our attention becomes our intention. Our intention becomes our manifestation.

Jesus talked about this tremendous creative life force when he told us that if you desire something just know that you have it and it will be yours.

So, this month, as we participate in our unique Self-Imaging process, let us know that we are, by our very nature, as sons and daughters of the Divine, already whole, complete and abundant now.

All we have to do is accept that which we are.  Regardless of appearances to the contrary,  we focus on this truth of our being and allow it to be.

And So It Is.

The Spiritual Tool of Affirmation
September 2006

During September we focus on the empowering spiritual tool of affirmation.  New Thought philosophy emphasizes the fact that we bring into our experience “that which we place our attention.” Jesus told us that, if we desire something, know that you have it and you will.

This energy of thought, emotion and the spoken word activates dynamic universal creative forces of the cosmic mind.

Plotinus once theorized that when we think a thought, or speak the word, with great emotion, a spiritual prototype is created that mysteriously brings forth the circumstances and events that lead to manifestation in the physical world.

Each of us have the awesome authority and responsibility to be the architect of our life experiences. We are blessed with the spiritual tool of affirmation, which is our decision and agreement with the creative power of the universe as to what we wish to experience.

It actually is our intention as to what we wish in our lives.

It behooves us to know that we are always using affirmations without being fully aware at times.

How many times have we been upset with ourselves over something we have done and then put in mind “I am so stupid to have done that”?

The words that complete the sentence starting with the words I am are an affirmation, which, when spoken often enough with emotion, will manifest in our experience.

So, during this month, we take the opportunity to be aware of the words and thoughts that we use each day, ensuring that we are not affirming experiences that do not serve our greater good.

And So It Is.

Exploring the Consciousness of Unity and Peace
August 2006

During the month of August we focus on the empowering themes of Unity and Peace.

We all have our own opinion as to the meaning of peace.   Is it merely the absence of conflict or does it embrace a more profound metaphysical meaning?

We know that many individuals have experienced the consciousness of peace even in the face of turmoil and extremely negative conditions.

This month, we will have the opportunity to explore the concept of peace and, perhaps, come to the awareness that it embraces, in meaning, more than the mere absence of conflict.

We are part of a creative life force, that, when embraced, transcends all external conditions that confront us on a daily basis.  This life force’s nature is harmony, joy, love, wholeness and abundance.  It is pure stability, infinite wisdom, and unlimited potential that is not bound by any human event and, therefore, maintains its nature of harmony in the face of conflict.

During this month we will discuss what we all can do to unify in consciousness  with this tremendous life force so that we may transcend, in consciousness, the negative human events, down sized economy, and all the other creations of mankind that are of a devastating, negative nature.

 And So it is.

Freedom -- Releasing Concern
July 2006

The month of July gives us an opportunity to renewal our awareness as to the true meaning of freedom.

Many people live in countries that honor and protect human dignity and the freedoms that accompany such a wonderful state of being. However, freedom goes well beyond this concept of human dignity and the freedom to express.

If we have imprisoned ourselves with limiting thoughts of fear, doubt and concern (worry) as to what’s going to happen to me if!!!!!, then, are we truly free?    If we harbor frustration, resentment and ill-will for past happenings are we truly free?

So, this month, as we focus on freedom,  we need to also accept the responsibility that each of us has to ourselves.

We may live in a free world, but it is our responsibility to establish a mental atmosphere that allows us to truly be emotionally free while living in a free world.

This means that we forgive the past, love one another, and treat others as we desire to be treated. We live in the present moment  knowing that there is nothing that can harm us in any way because we are sons and daughters of the CEO of the Universe.

We are the nature of God; we are whole, complete, loving and eternal.

We release all concerns about what is happening to us, knowing that we are an activity of the Divine.

We are truly free.  And so it is!

The Father Within
June 2006

During the month of June we not only honor the birth and lives of our fathers, but we also honor that spiritual presence within each of us that is referred to by metaphysicians as the “Father Within.”

Dr. Ernest Holmes stated many years ago that “There is a Power and a Presence in the universe greater than we are and we can use it.”

It really doesn’t matter whether we believe this statement or not,  or whether we reject it, or not; we definitely are part of a tremendous creative energy that responds to our thoughts and our emotions.

Ralph Waldo Emerson defined it eloquently when he said, “we lie in the lap of immense intelligence which makes us receivers of its truth and organs of its activity.”

During this month, let’s take the opportunity to reawaken to the Golden innovation that we are, an individualization of a mysterious Divine Presence that’s with us at all times and responds to us when called upon to do so.

As we move our awareness to this Glory of our being,  we empower ourselves to take responsibility and dominion over our human experiences and come to the realization that if we are an individualization of God Presence, then who, or what, could possibly harm us.

We accept the fact that we are here to “showcase” the Glory of the Divine.  That God works through each of us as us.  That we are a life form of God, an immense intelligence that makes us “receivers of its truth and organs of its activity.”

And So IT Is.

The Feminine Principle
May 2006

During the Month of May we not only honor the birth and lives of our mothers, but we also honor that spiritual presence within each of us that is referred to by metaphysicians as the “Feminine Principle.”

Each of us is blessed with what can be called the “responsive” activity of the Divine; that part of the nature of God that always says yes to our desires and acts upon them.

This “Feminine Principle” accepts our energized thoughts impersonally.  It does not judge whether our thoughts are correct or not, it merely says yes to them.

We are blessed to have this ability to create our life experiences through this awesome Universal Principle. This puts the responsibility on our shoulders for our own manifestations.   If we do not appreciate or like what we are experiencing, we merely need to change the focus of our thoughts.  Complaining about what is happening to us will not change a thing but merely prolongs the undesired manifestation.

So, during this month, we reawaken our awareness to this awesome creative aspect of God, knowing that what we put into mind is what we will experience in our lives.

 And So It Is.

Life Preserving Abundance
April 2006

We are entering into one of the most empowering months of the year, the magnificent month of April, the month of renewal and transformation.

As we become inspired by the rebirth occurring all around us in nature, we are reminded that each of us also has the innate ability to birth our deepest desires.

What was so glorious this first spring day was the tremendous abundance that the Universe provided in the form of four to six inches of snow.

This substance of life is desperately needed, without water we could not continue to live and prosper. Having fifteen to twenty feet of snow in the higher elevations of the Sierra guarantees life preserving abundance the rest of the year.

All of us have an opportunity to learn from Nature. We can call forth life preserving abundance anytime we desire. Just as snow was called forth the first day of spring when one would normally see sunshine and clear skies, we only need to place our attention on our deepest felt desires and, by so doing, we are placing our request into the energy field of intention.

Manifestation follows intention and brings forth life preserving abundance that transforms our lives.

During this month of transformation and renewal, we have the opportunity to review what is working in our lives and what we no longer need to hold on to. We have the opportunity to birth life preserving abundance any time we desire. And So It Is….

Forgiveness -- Releasing Conditions
March 2006

March’s theme of forgiveness is very empowering from the standpoint that the very act of forgiveness releases us from the emotions of the past and gives us the opportunity to experience the present moment without interference from past hurts.

When we forgive, we cancel the conditions placed on another person to receive our love. For example, if I am angry at a relative for treating me unkindly by gossiping about me, then, the act of forgiving means that, regardless of the way she treated me, I will still love her.  Her role, as a relative, was to be kind to me, but I realize that the place she was in consciousness kept her from being kind, so, I cancel the requirement and love her anyway. Make sense?

The story of the unforgiving wife is a good case in point. Her husband left her and the four kids and ran off with a younger woman. She hated him for over 20 years and subsequently came down with cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure and other illnesses.  Research shows that negative emotions affect the DNA in our cells, leading to serious health problems.

Her pastoral counselor convinced her, after many sessions, that releasing the conditions she placed on her husband to receive her love would improve her health.  In other words, a loving husband does not do this to his family, however, this man, for some reason, was not able to fulfill this role.

She forgave him by doing this and her health improved dramatically. This empowering theme brings into our awareness the magnificent healing power of unconditional loving -- the awesome activity of forgiving.

 And So It Is!

The Month of Love
February 2006

We often hear people ask the question, “What truly is our purpose in life?”

The answer, of course, will vary with the individual.   I have come to the realization that my purpose is to be a showcase for the glory of God; to be a life form and activity of the creator and to experience life in the nature of God, which is harmony, love and abundance.

If this be so, then we are here to create, to experience the miracles of life, to unfold the mysteries of the universe, and to discover our individual talents and use those talents for the greater good.  In other words, we strive to be all that we can be, but to do this, to live on purpose, we must embrace and accept the idea of God as a loving presence that is here to guide, protect and nurture us.

The theme for the month of February gives us the opportunity to reawaken our awareness to the life-enhancing nature of LOVE.

During this month, let us embrace the idea that LOVE is God in action. It provides us with the ability to live the nature of the Divine even in the face of stress or disaster. We stay centered in the loving presence knowing that we are part of something far greater than any human experience, that we are a life form of God, a magnificent spiritual being in human form.

 And So It Is.

Peace Comes From Within
January 2006

During the Holiday Season, we have the opportunity to renew our awareness of the consciousness of “Peace on Earth and Goodwill toward all Mankind.”

One important spiritual leader who taught us to start finding Peace within, just as Jesus had, was St. Francis of Assisi, the founder of the Franciscan Order. Its members named the city of San Francisco after him.

He wrote the following prayer, which, I believe is a guide for all of us as we look forward to the New Year with a vision of love, peace and abundance for all.

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may
Not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to Eternal life.

We are so blessed to be part of a Spiritual Family whose members embody the truth of our being that Peace begins within each of us and that peace is the nature of God.

And So It Is.

The Potentialities of Greatness
Within Each of Us
December, 2005

This month we celebrate the birth of the Master Teacher who has made a profound impact on the world with only a three-year ministry.

Here we are, over 2000 years later, and Jesus’ teachings continue to guide us, bringing us into the light of wisdom.

His importance as the world’s greatest teacher is underscored by the fact that our very calendars are based on his birth and “the fabric of our laws and constitution is weaved by his teachings.”

This month we celebrate not only his birth, but the gift of wisdom that poured forth through his teachings and his reminder to us that every child born is a child of God.

In every precious child are all the potentialities of greatness.  Each child is a Channel for God’s love.

Jesus created a revolution of the spirit that brings all of us to a realization of Oneness with God. He showed us that eternal flame of life and Love that resides within and the fact that we are unique, individualized avenues of God’s unconditional giving.

During this month we have the opportunity to bless the gifts of wisdom that come forth through the Great Master’s teachings and celebrate his birth and the birth of our awareness of the great potentialities that reside within our souls.

And So It Is.

Gratitude: The Igniter of Our Greater Good
November, 2005

We embrace, during the month of November, the empowering themes of thanks-giving and gratitude. We reawaken to the empowering universal principle: “that which we are grateful for expands in our lives.”

We are all blessed with this tremendous igniter of our greater good. Of all the abilities we have, one of the most profound is gratitude.

When we bring it into the moment, we experience an awesome  awakening of the “nobility” of the Soul, working in our lives and enhancing the quality of the moment and the quality of the day.

The ancient Greeks referred to gratitude as the “mother of all virtues,” the sign of a noble Soul.

I believe it is the mysterious ingredient that blends the body with the Soul, the spiritual world of infinite possibilities with the physical world of limitations.

It has been called the “yeast” of human life and when  we mix it with the things of the human world, we rise up to our greater potential as spiritual beings.

And So It Is!

Developing a Portrait of Our “Self”
October 2005

An essay appeared in the Science of Mind magazine several years ago in which the author wrote that we cannot expect to be suddenly affluent anymore than the farmer who wants corn can look out on an untilled field and expect corn to suddenly spring up.

The planting, the plowing and the caring for must be done before he can reap the harvest.

The quality of our life, how we experience each day and how successful we will be in all areas of our life has to do with our own planting, plowing and caring for and we can lump it all together and call it “Self-Imaging.”

It is that portrait all of us develop of ourselves that, once placed into mind, produces a mysterious spiritual prototype, as Plato once described it, which eventually draws into our experience all the  circumstances and events that correspond to the portrait we have established.    If we see ourselves as losers, with no chance for success, this portrait will bring into our experience all the events and circumstances to keep as losers.

The month of October is empowering because it reminds, us through nature, that we have the opportunity to let old ideas, old beliefs and concepts that do not serve us well, fall away, and thus, allow the growth of a consciousness of  faith, trust and abundance to spring forth in our lives.

This month we are reminded that we can not only let go of old beliefs that hold us back, but also create a portrait in mind that enhances our life.

For starters we can develop this portrait of “Self”:

I am an offspring of the Divine and accept all the spiritual qualities of harmony, love, wholeness and abundance that are available to me now.

 And So It is!

The Creative Energy of Thought
September 2005

In September we focus on the creative energy of thought and the spoken word and embrace the month’s theme of “affirmation.”   We find that affirmation is our agreement, through the spoken word and thought, with the creative power of the Universe as to what we wish to experience.  It actually is our intention for what we wish in our lives.

This month’s theme of “affirmation” reminds us that we bring into our experience that on which we place our attention.   If we focus on love, our attention becomes our intention.

The creative power of the Universe responds to this intention (affirmation) and provides us with many opportunities to experience love.

We are reminded to stay centered in truth and realize that our duty assignment here on earth is to “showcase” the love and glory of God and to accept the nature of God, harmony, love, and abundance as our nature.

We do this by placing our attention and gratitude on the gifts of life that are bestowed upon us daily and not on the negative aspects we may experience.

Placing our attention on gratitude for the gifts of life activates the Mystical Power of the Mind to bring forth more of the same.

And So It Is.

The Consciousness of Unity and Peace
August 2005

During the month of August we focus on the empowering themes of Unity and Peace.

We have the opportunity to explore the concept of peace and, perhaps, come to an awareness that it means more than the mere absence of conflict and embraces a more profound metaphysical meaning.

We are part of a creative life force, that, when embraced, transcends all external conditions that confront us on a daily basis. This life force's nature is harmony, joy, love, wholeness and abundance. It is pure stability, infinite wisdom, and unlimited potential that is not bound by any human event and, therefore, maintains its nature of harmony in the face of conflict.

We have the opportunity, this month, to reawaken our awareness that when we unify in consciousness with this tremendous life force, we transcend, in consciousness, the negative human events that are of a devastating, negative nature.

Join us on Sundays at 10 a.m.!

Celebrating Freedom
The Pursuit of Happiness
July 2005

July is an empowering month. The theme for July provides us with the awareness that brings forth an enhanced life experience.

Our forefathers established, through the Declaration of Independence, the fact that all of us are endowed with unalienable Rights- Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  We are fortunate that all of us enjoy this independence.

However, many interpret this idea of “The Pursuit of Happiness” as the accumulation of material goods.

Those of us who follow New Thought Philosophy know that happiness does not come from the outer world of form. The ever-changing dynamics of the outer experience suggests that we can never experience stability if we rely on it for peace of mind.

In fact, if we rely on the world of form for happiness we place ourselves under its dominion and control. Attitudes constantly change as does the economy and world conditions.

Turning within to the Loving Presence of the Divine as the Source of all good provides us with Authentic Freedom that enhances our life experience and provides us with lasting happiness that we all seek.

And So It Is.

We Lie in the Lap of Immense Intelligence
June 2005

“There is a Power and a Presence in the universe greater than we are and we can use it.”

It really doesn’t matter whether we believe this statement made many years ago by Dr. Ernest Holmes or not, or whether we reject it, or not; we definitely are part of a tremendous creative energy that responds to our thoughts and our emotions.

During the month of June, we focus on this diving Presence and we honor and bless it as the Father within.

Ralph Waldo Emerson defined it eloquently when he said, “We lie in the lap of immense intelligence which makes us receivers of its truth and organs of its activity.”

During this month, lets take the opportunity to reawaken to the Golden innovation that we are, an individualization of a mysterious Divine Presence that’s with us at all times and responds to us when called upon to do so.

May - Month of Mothers and Love
May 2005
Rev. Dr. Angelo Pizelo

As we move into the month of May we have the opportunity to reflect on the most precious word in any language. It has been said by many spiritual masters that love is the greatest healing energy in the world.

It is my belief that, in the presence of LOVE, nothing contrary to its nature can survive and that it is not simply an emotion. It is our ability to know “oneness” with all and to desire that good comes to all. It is unconditional givingness.

During the Month of May, we not only honor the birth and lives of our mothers, but we celebrate the awesome spiritual activities that occur when we embody and embrace the love nature that is modeled by our beloved mothers.

Through our mom’s example of unconditional giving of self, we are provided the metaphysical solution to every problem, every negative circumstance, or condition. When we open our hearts to this profound love energy,  we become awesome co-creators experiencing spontaneous activities and healings that move us well beyond our limited physical capabilities.

Our mothers showed us the way, and for this we are eternally grateful as we celebrate this month of love, this month of our moms. Love is the very nature of God. It is God’s unconditional givingness that we see all around us; the air we breathe, the sun that shines upon all of us, the beautiful environment, the animals, plants and minerals, all of our friends, and the community.

We truly are surrounded by love. It is also our ability to share, to be empathic, to emotionally identify with the feelings of others in order to understand them better. It is not saying “I know how you feel” but rather to grasp what the other person may be going through.

Love is the healing power and when we accept it, acknowledge it and live it, we experience the eternal dimension of God and our greater good is manifested in all areas of our lives. Love is God in action. The one and only power in the Universe.

And So It Is.

Transformation
April 2005

As we move into the Spring Season we witness the awesome lesson that nature provides us.

Ralph Waldo Emerson told us that we can learn about our life by observing nature.   This time of the year, we see the release of the old and the unfolding of the new. We can coin a phrase and call this “resurrection living.,” the unfolding of the power, readily observed during April, of resurrection in nature.

This month, let’s celebrate the fact that all of us have this same power of unfolding the new, the power of resurrection. That there comes a time in our lives When we get to the end of our strength and courage where the problems are too overwhelming and beyond our human ability to solve them.

The choice is ours, at that moment. we can release and surrender our frail human involvement to the old, the worn out ideas and concepts that no longer serve us and in so doing we allow the unfolding of the new.   We discover fresh vision, insight and answers that we had not conceived of before.

And so it is.

The Coming of Spring
March 2005

Ralph Waldo Emerson told us that we all can learn from nature. One of the most precious lessons occurs at spring time. We see the falling away of the old that occurs during fall and winter and the birth of the new. Nature releases the past, and, in so doing, ushers in the creative beauty of God.

We have the opportunity to use this as a metaphor for the month of March as we focus on its empowering themes of forgiveness and release.

We all have a tendency to cling to what is familiar to us and feel very comfortable dealing with the known. Many of us get locked into old concepts, patterns of behavior and systems of belief that prevent us from experiencing the glory of the unknown that awaits our discovery.

We spend much of our time thinking about the past and in so doing we cheat ourselves out of enjoying the present moment. We also ensure a regurgitation of the emotions of the past, because we know that what we focus our thoughts on appears in our lives.

It has been said that "To experience anything other than abundance in our life necessitates our actual resistance to our greater good by focusing on the past." Let us remember that we grow spiritually when we remain open to the NOW, knowing that when we release the past, we can look forward to the glory that flows to us as we treasure the precious gifts that comes form the unknown, the creative activity of God.

And so it is.
